The little things
We provide the essentials
So you don't have to think about them: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash, toilet roll, kitchen roll, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets and washing-machine detergent, plus tea, coffee, sugar, milk and a cake to welcome you. Hand and bath towels and fresh linen are all provided, and there are matches, firelighters and some wood by the fire.
The village shop is a one-minute walk for anything else (open 8am–8pm daily, until 6pm on Sundays).

What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from **4:00pm** and check-out is by **11:00am**. Check-in is self-service via a key safe, so you can arrive at a time that suits you. We'll send full directions and the key-safe code before you arrive.
Is the cottage suitable for young children?
Yes. On request we can provide a travel cot, a high chair, a changing mat, and a bed guard for the bunk bed (the kind that tucks under the mattress to stop little ones rolling out). There are also children's books tucked under the bunk beds for bedtime stories, and the kitchen is stocked with children's plates, bowls, cups, and knives and forks. Please note the cottage's old staircase has gaps between the steps, so young children should be supervised on the stairs.
Can we bring our dog?
Yes, well-behaved dogs are very welcome. The garden isn't fully enclosed, so please keep an eye on them outside. Do let us know you're bringing a dog when you book.
Is there parking?
Yes. There's free, unrestricted on-street parking on the road directly outside the cottage. If you have several cars or a larger vehicle, there are nearby options too, and we'll explain exactly where in your arrival information.
How many people can stay?
Up to **10 guests** across six beds: a king in each of the two en-suite bedrooms (4), two single bunks in the third bedroom (2), and a double on the Minstrels' Gallery mezzanine (2), which makes eight in beds, plus two more on the pull-out sofa bed in the Gallery.
What's provided?
We provide all bed linen and towels (hand and bath), plus a generous set of essentials so you don't have to think about the small things: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash, toilet roll, kitchen roll, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets and washing-machine detergent. There's also tea, coffee, sugar, milk and a cake to welcome you, and matches, firelighters and some wood by the fire.
Is there wifi and somewhere to work?
Yes, there's wifi throughout and a dedicated workspace, so the cottage works well for a few days of remote working or simply keeping in touch.
Are there shops nearby?
The village shop is a one-minute walk on the High Street and stocks far more than you'd expect, open 8am–8pm daily (until 6pm Sundays). There's also an excellent butcher a short stroll away, and pubs and the brewery all within walking distance.
Can we use the fireplace?
Yes, the inglenook log fire is one of the best things about the cottage on a chilly evening. We leave matches, firelighters and some wood to get you started; if you plan on lots of fires, you can top up on firewood at the village shop.
Where exactly is the cottage, and how do we get there?
Bridge Hill Cottage is on Bridge Hill, just off the High Street in Hook Norton, Oxfordshire (OX15 5PN), the first cottage on the right as you fork onto Bridge Hill. It's about 25 minutes from Banbury (with trains to London Marylebone) and within easy reach of the M40. We'll send precise directions, a map link and the key-safe code before your stay.
